Void of Course Dates this Month
Chiron turns retrograde on July 5th and will remain retrograde until December 8th. This cycle is good for introspection and for reassessing mental and physical health programs in our lives. We tend to look within for healing with Chiron retrograde.
Jupiter turns direct on the 10th in the sign of Scorpio. This can represent a turning of the corner with certain projects and relationships as well as increased enthusiasm. With Jupiter direct, our confidence in ourselves, our intimate lives, and the universe builds. Especially with Saturn retrograde, we are more lighthearted now. We’re ready to share ourselves and what we’ve learned with others.
A New Moon partial Solar Eclipse occurs in the sign of Cancer on the 12th, bringing the chance for a fresh start. We are called upon to pay attention to our instincts, our deepest needs, and our feelings; and to recognize the importance of our family and our personal circle of friends as well as the security, sense of belonging, and safety that we derive from them. It’s a time for getting in touch with our vulnerabilities and our needs for intimacy. We might begin a new project that involves improving the home or domestic life in general. Flaws in an important system in our lives are revealed around the time of the eclipse, prompting us to redo or to start fresh. Something ends in order for something else to start anew. We may be called to give up something in order to move forward into a new chapter in our lives.
Mercury turns retrograde on the 26th in the sign of Leo and will remain retrograde until August 19th, never leaving the sign. Mercury starts its shadow phase on July 7th so that issues encountered, conversations, and projects started from July 7-26 can very well come up for review later. With both Mercury and Mars retrograde now, we’re likely to feel that things are moving slowly.
Mars is retrograde all month (from June 26-August 27), calling our attention to unresolved matters. We may be revisiting or rehashing old friendship matters or we may be reconsidering or thinking about the past. While this is an excellent period for seeing old problems in a new light and for identifying problem areas in our relationships, there can be some obsessing over these issues. We can experience lowered vitality and/or health issues, especially those associated with areas ruled by Aquarius and Capricorn (nervous system, legs, bones (including teeth), and skin). When we can’t find outlets for expressing our desires and anger, there can be struggles with resentment or shame. Energy flow seems interrupted or unnatural and stop-and-go. It’s better to avoid pushing matters. Reworking and redefining current projects may be especially satisfying, and ultimately very rewarding.
The Full Moon occurring on the 27th is a total Lunar Eclipse in the sign of Aquarius and is bound to thrust us into a state of heightened awareness of flaws in/with our friendships, attitudes towards others, the community, and group activities. While we’re reminded of our needs for friendship, community, as well as impartiality and objectivity, decisions made now are emotionally-driven. With so much attention on our personal lives and pleasures, we’re reminded now that we mustn’t lose sight of our larger goals and our need to give back to the community or group that supports us.

The Sun continues its transit of home-loving, sentimental Cancer until the 22nd. Cancer is a receptive sign, but it’s also a Cardinal sign, and the need or desire to take action is strong. This is a time for making what we love and value a reality; for nurturing, caring for, and growing the things that matter most to us. It can also be a time of new beginnings for long-term projects, although with Mars retrograde all month and most of August, we may have some work to do first. From the 22nd, the Sun transits Leo, and we are ready to strut our stuff. Matters of pride, appreciation, affection, and creativity figure strongly now. All month, we need to feel things from the very heart in order for us to find motivation and inspiration.
Mercury transits Leo all month, and in fact, will journey through the sign until September 5th, and our focus is on the goal and not necessarily the details. The reason for a longer-than-usual stay in the sign is Mercury’s retrograde from July 26th to August 19th. This can be a period for returning to old hobbies or forms of recreation with a renewed perspective. We may be thinking about past accomplishments, loves, and creations more frequently, seeing them a little differently now. Past ideas and perceptions of lovers, children, and creative pursuits can emerge and change. Mercury starts its shadow phase on July 7th so that issues encountered, conversations, and projects started from July 7-26 can very well come up for review later.
Venus continues its transit of Leo until the 9th, and we are generous with our affections and our pocketbooks. From the 9th forward, Venus transits Virgo. Love needs to make sense and have a purpose with Venus in Virgo. Virgo is an Earth sign, which is sensual but also quite practical. We could easily feel guilty if we are too self-indulgent during this period, making it a good time for firming up our health and fitness routines. Rendering services to others can fill a need and can be an expression of love, as well. Venus in Virgo desires appreciation perhaps as much as Venus in Leo, but it’s more for what we do for others than for our personalities. We show our affection through taking care of the “little things” and the details, not through dramatic gestures. When Venus is challenged while in the sign, for example from the 24-27, insecurities can be stimulated and we might over-analyze and worry about our relationships. However, Venus forms a fair number of auspicious aspects while transiting Virgo, pointing to wonderful opportunities to share our help and support and to enjoy one another.
Mars continues to transit Aquarius all month in retrograde motion. While Mars is in Aquarius, we tend to act only when we can totally “get behind” or believe in what we are doing. As such, we might spend more time thinking about action than taking it. However, we’re crusaders for our ideas and causes. Mars will be retrograde from June 26th to August 27th but is retrograde in Aquarius until August 12th, after which it will retreat into Capricorn. During this retrograde cycle, we may see areas of life where aggression or anger have been tripping us up. This month, Mars is close to the South Node, and we can feel driven (impatient) to close an ongoing matter or problem and put it behind us, or we can feel a little stuck emotionally on a matter that hasn’t been resolved. Things are not moving forward at this time, and it can be frustrating. It’s hard to look to the future when we’re so focused on, or stuck in, the past. This can be a time of wanting to rekindle old relationships perhaps as a means of avoiding moving on or beginning new friendships. It can also be a time of friction and stress in our relationships.
