Honest Reactions to Nike’s New Plus Size Clothes

People of all shapes and sizes work out — and it’s time workout clothing reflected that. Which is why we are thrilled Nike has finally launched a plus size line for women.

The new line comes in sizes 1X through 3X and features more than 200 products, including athletic shirts, pants, shorts, jackets and colorful patterned pants. Oh, and busty ladies out there, rejoice: New sports bras will go up to size 38E.

The line promises to fit many bodies.

“When we design for plus-size, we aren’t just proportionately making our products larger,” Helen Boucher, Nike’s vice president of women’s training apparel, told Huffington Post UK about the new line last month, when they first started experimenting with larger sizes. “That doesn’t work because as we know, everyone’s weight distribution is different. We fit every garment on everyday athletes since elite athletes may have different muscle mass.”

She added, “ultimately, beauty comes in all shapes and sizes and being strong is beautiful. Strong is the keyword for us; size doesn’t matter.”

Mic. Drop.

And we’re not the only ones celebrating. Twitter is lauding the brand for finally making the move, promising to fill their carts as fast as they can. Why do we have a feeling the line will sell out pretty fast?

Others hope that brands like Adidas will follow suit, and are using the launch to give them a much-needed nudge.

Well, this is definitely a start. Now excuse us while we do a little online shopping for new workout clothes.
