Benedict Cumberbatch to play ‘Vote Leave’ leader in Brexit drama - who else could be involved?

Sherlock Holmes actor Benedict Cumberbatch will play Dominic Cummings, Campaign Director of ‘Vote Leave’, credited by many for leading Brexiteers to victory in the 2016 EU Ref, in a Brexit film scheduled for release in early 2019.

The new drama, made by Channel 4, will be partly based on books written by the Sunday Times political editor Tim Shipman and Craig Oliver - the former director of communications for David Cameron. It will likely focus on Cummings' successful Brexit campaign, that defied all predictions by mainstream political pundits, reports The Guardian.

No details have been revealed as to who else will be cast to play the key Brexit protagonists. On Events has given careful consideration to the subject to offer up these potential candidates.

Michael Gove - Rick Moranis

The bespectacled Brexiteer was a chief architect in the campaign, initially describing the decision as "the most difficult decision of my political life.” Who better than Ghostbusters simpleton Rick Moranis to deliver Gove’s famous line "the people of this country have had enough of experts.”

Jeremy Corbyn - Larry David

After doing such a good job portraying US firebrand Bernie Sanders on Saturday Night Live, Larry David’s next political role could be another lefty, Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn. David could portray Corbyn’s supposed apathy to the EU with the same attitude he famously embodied in his hit show Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Jacob Rees-Mogg - Daniel Radcliffe

Tory backbencher, Jacob Rees-Mogg, 48, has not lost his youthful looks. So much so that the Brexit-backing MP would arguably not look out of place in a boarding school common room much like Daniel Radcliffe. Both men have a habit of talking in languages no one understands. Upon joining Twitter Rees-Mogg wrote in Latin: Tempora mutantur, et nos mutamur in illis. ("the times change, and we change with them").

Boris Johnson - Matt Lucas

Who better than the star of Little Britain, Matt Lucas, to play Boris Johnson. Britain’s top diplomat who travels the world offending almost every nation he sets foot in.

George Osborne - Charlie Sheen

For their uncanny resemblance.

Nigel Farage - Tim Curry

One is famous for playing a monstrous clown and the other is Tim Curry.
