Just under half of working-age disabled people have a job, compared to more than 80% of those without a disability.

Self employment is a particularly popular way for people living with a disability to get into the workforce, with half a million people doing just that.

Kelly Perks-Bevington, who has spinal muscular atrophy type 3, a muscle wasting disorder, started her professional management business after realising the company she was working for wasn't sending her out on jobs because of her disability.

She says in the past she let the way she viewed her disability hold her back in business, but not anymore.
