Agbonlahor gives Villa derby win over Birmingham

Gabby Agbonlahor turned in Villa's winner following a goalmouth scramble at a corner

Aston Villa's Gabby Agbonlahor scored his first goal for 14 months to keep Harry Redknapp's Birmingham City in Championship relegation trouble.

Blues are two points above the bottom three with two games remaining.

Redknapp, who succeeded Gianfranco Zola as Birmingham manager on Tuesday, saw Che Adams fire over from close range before half-time at Villa Park.

A scrappy local derby of few chances was decided when substitute Agbonlahor turned in from close range.

Both sides paid tribute to former Villa and England centre-back Ugo Ehiogu, who died on Friday, with a minute's applause before kick-off.
