Woods could be out for six months after back surgery

Tiger Woods was forced to withdraw from the Dubai Desert Classic in February because of back problems

Tiger Woods has had back surgery to treat ongoing pain in his back and leg.

The 14-time major winner missed the Masters because of the injury and has not played tournament golf since the Dubai Desert Classic in February.

A statement on his website said that patients typically return to full activity after six months.

"When healed, I look forward living without the pain I have been battling so long," Woods, 41, said.
