Luke Shaw’s future as a Manchester United player was thrown further into doubt on Tuesday when he was omitted from Jose Mourinho’s Europa League squad.
Manchester United travels to St-Etienne on Thursday for the second leg of the round of 32 tie with the French club, having already won the first match 3-0.
Shaw, 21, has not featured in the Premier League since October, and has made fleeting appearances in cup competitions.

Mourinho questioned the young defender’s commitment to the team earlier in the season when he pulled out of a match against Swansea in November. He has not featured in the league since.
The former Southampton left-back has had to settle for a role in the Europa League, EFL Cup and FA Cup.
But, even with United all but into the last 16 of the European competition, Shaw has been left out of Mourinho’s squad.
More troubling still, for Shaw, is that it comes at a time when United is experiencing a fixture pile-up, as Sunday’s EFL Cup final against Southampton will be its fourth game in 10 days.Try Newsweek: Subscription offers
