If there’s anything people hate applying more than sunscreen, it’s bug repellent. DEET-filled formulas are often sticky, irritating and smelly, making them less than desirable for wear.

But that doesn’t mean you need to be subjected to bug bites this summer due to your distaste for traditional bug repellents — fortunately, there are plenty of products that use DEET alternatives to help keep mosquitos and insects at bay without smelling or feeling like a traditional bug spray.

And while some of these perfumes, body washes and sprays aren’t necessarily marketed as “insect repellents,” their scents and ingredients have been proven to keep the mosquitos away. Check out six beauty products that double as bug repellents below.

It may not be traditionally meant to keep mosquitos at bay, but according to a study, Victoria’s Secret Bombshell perfume is a powerful insect repellent as mosquitos aren’t fans of the floral scent.
