A Look at Cardi B’s Best Moments

In case you’ve been existing under a rock, or you’re residing in a WiFi-less zone (in which case, welcome back! Happy to have you), you know that rapper, and former TV personality, Cardi B is having an incredible year. In fact, she’s having a record-breaking, history-making year. Her single, “Bodak Yellow,” reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart last fall, making Cardi the first female rapper to hit number one on her own, since Lauryn Hill did it in 1998 with “Doo Wop (That Thing)”…two decades ago. Other female rappers have reached number two—Nicki Minaj with “Anaconda,” Eve (and Gwen Stefani) with “Let Me Blow Ya Mind,” Lil’ Kim (and 50 Cent) with “Magic Stick”—but they never quite made it to the top. You can read more about why it’s so important here.

But on to Cardi B, outside of music. She gradually built up her social media following over the years, which is now at a cool 34 million on Instagram alone. She took her Instagram fame to the small screen, becoming a regular on Love and Hip Hop: New York. She’s largely considered the breakout star of the seasons she appeared on (six and seven) and left the show at the end of 2016 to pursue music.

Which brings us to now. After releasing “Bodak Yellow” in June, the song enjoyed a steady chart climb and legit insane (and well-deserved) radio airplay. “I Like It” from her critically acclaimed debut album, Invasion of Privacy, also reached number one, making her the first female rapper to achieve multiple chart-toppers.

Below, take a look at some of Cardi’s many, many memorable looks over the past couple years, from waist-length red hair to flawless fringe to bright blue under-eye liner. In the meantime, we’ll be waiting for Cardi’s inevitable upcoming beauty contract. Who will it be? M.A.C? Fenty Beauty? Only time will tell.

Channeling a Disney princess, Cardi B wore a cute chignon and a brown smoky eye to Rihanna’s Diamond Ball earlier this month.

Debuting a pixie for the 2018 MTV VMAs, Cardi looked chic in red lips and a classic cat eye.

A cat eye and cascading curls are pretty foolproof.

What’s more flawless: Cardi’s chic bob or her eyeliner?

Glossy lips and mega-lashes are a lovely contrast to those platinum blonde waves.

Adding to our inspo board: lavender hair and those lashes.

Now that’s a blunt bob.

…if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Just change up the colour.

Bright, red lips and long, straight hair are always a winning combo.

A rare ponytail sighting!

How great does Cardi look in a bright blonde wig and brown lipstick?

Not to be hyperbolic, but nude lips and black hair have never been so glam.

Breaking from her penchant for red or nude lips, Cardi B pulled out plum lipstick.

When in doubt, add inches on inches on inches.

There’s a reason matching your lipstick to your outfit will never go out of style.

For a pop of colour, take Cardi’s lead and add a swipe of blue eyeliner to your bottom lash line.

Proving you can’t go wrong with a sleek middle part and thick eyeliner.

Another winning combo: leather and red lips.

Long blonde hair and silver eyeshadow make Cardi look like a modern day Barbie.

Want to up your ponytail game? First, up it literally. Like, way up. Then, go for the longest extensions you can find. And finally, when in doubt, go red.

Cardi’s love of a sleek bob is real, and so is her love of red hair.

Feeling adventurous? A lavender and silver smoky eye is a fun way to update a classic.

Now that’s an attention-grabbing updo.

Voluminous waves? Check. Razor sharp nails? Check. The perfect nude lip? Check, check, check.

Behold: your answer to the age-old question, “Should I get bangs?”

Still not convinced?

How about now?
