She worked with (the very beautiful) Isaac Carew on the Dune campaign

"It was a romance story I guess – a first encounter, a first date. We had a lot of fun in the studio with cool backdrops set in different places in London. Isaac Carew is a very handsome male model and a gifted chef too, so he was very interesting. Rankin was the visionary and he has a cool way of shooting. He’s happy to let things evolve naturally."

She’s been to some crazy Game of Thrones parties

“It’s always surreal to watch myself on screen, but I’m such a fan of the show, I love watching it. I feel like I say Game of Thrones is about to blow everyone’s minds every season, but I mean it. HBO are great at throwing parties and we always have a premiere with the whole cast and crew. For the San Diego premiere there was a life size dragon outside - it was insane.”

Sex scenes don’t faze her

“I don’t have a problem with doing sex or nudity, as long as it feels relevant and valid for the character. What I really love about Grey Worm and Missandei’s storyline is that their love has blossomed outside of that. It’s about human intimacy and connection and their understanding of each other. It’s so much more than anything physical.”

Learning Valyrian was one of her biggest challenges

“David J. Peterson - who created the language for Game of Thrones - will send an audio recording of the lines and say it as it’s meant to be said, then syllable by syllable. It can be so frustrating. Sometimes I’ll get to set and think, ‘I know this, I’ve learnt this,’ then someone points a camera at me and I’ll be like, ‘I have no idea what I’m supposed to say’. The language is fully constructed and the words all have meaning, I think there might even be a dictionary somewhere. I don’t speak any other languages, not even a little bit.”

She listens to Grime with Emilia Clarke

“Emilia is so hilarious, you’d be surprised how many rap songs that girl knows the lyrics to. She’s thrown out a bit of Busta Rhymes in the past and we both love UK Grime music, so we have a great time. When we were in Bilbao shooting Game of Thrones season seven, a whole group of the cast went to see The Chemical Brothers which was so much fun.”

She used to sleep with a picture of Peter Andre under her pillow

“Peter Andre was my first crush. I was about nine and had pictures of him all over my room. Who doesn’t love a guy with curtains gyrating under a waterfall? This one time my friend gave me a framed picture of him and I slept with it under my pillow. Then I was really sad because someone came round and jumped on my bed and broke it. He’s probably not my celebrity crush anymore, but I think he’s a very handsome man and he’d be cool to hang out with.”

She's had her septum pierced twice

"The first time it was really painful because it wasn’t done well. I had to take it out because it started rejecting. About three months later I was in Camden by myself on Valentine’s Day, so I just walked into a piercing studio and said, “Hey do you want to pierce my septum?” and they did it. My mum was horrified. Then last year she turned up to her birthday dinner with a nose stud. It looks amazing, but she gave me such a hard time about mine!"

She’s vegan

“I started eating a vegan diet about four years ago and even after a week I felt amazing. I had so much more energy. I don’t trust the food industry, I don’t trust what they put in our food -it makes me feel sick actually. I cook a lot and my signature dish is a vegan version of a Caribbean dish called Ackee and Saltfish.”

She slept on her Hollyoaks co-star, Ricky Whittle’s sofa in LA

“When I first started going out to LA [to audition], Ricky had been there for a while and I crashed on his sofa for weeks on end, just annoying him and taking over his life. I’d be calling him like, “Ricky I’m lost, come and pick me up!” He became a huge support to me. We’re like brother and sister in real life.”

She'd love to work with Emma Stone

"I just think Emma seems like a really nice girl, I feel like we’d be friends. She doesn’t take herself too seriously and I like that. I’m also a huge Meryl Streep fan. I think she’s one of the best character actresses to ever grace this earth."
