Victoria's Secret Angels Josephine Skriver and Jasmine Tookes are apparently as smart as they are beautiful, for just as the world went gaga for athleisure (and their primary employer, Victoria's Secret, begun placing more and more emphasis on its sportswear division), the twosome launched a new Instagram account dedicated purely to workout tips: JoJa.
"It's meant to be like 'yoga': Joja," Skriver told us. "Sort of referencing the fact that the fans like to give us ship names. We've been working out together for a while. Jasmine introduced me to DogPound, and taught me about heavy lifting and what it does for your body, and we work out very similarly, so one day we were shooting and just posted pictures of us doing a few yoga poses and things. After that, people just really started asking us questions about how we work out, so Joja was born."
Both Angels have healthy social-media followings under their own names - 3.5 and 1.7 million respectively - but Joja has almost 200,000 after less than six months, and continues to grow. Fans ask specific questions - about weights and repetitions - which the girls try to answer or demonstrate. The videos are created to inspire fans of the twosome to move their body wherever they happen to be in the world, but have the welcome side-effect of also motivating the Angels themselves to hit the gym.
"It's a great incentive, when we're travelling and maybe don't feel like working out, then the other one will say, 'Did you do your Joja post yet? Did you make it to the gym?' It makes you competitive in a good way - like, if you can do 15 push-ups, then I want to make sure that I can do 16! It's really created almost a mini sisterhood among our followers. We really just want to help empower people to do the same, and stay healthy together."
