With their bare faces and cool-girl hair, the models at Balenciaga looked as though they fit precisely into the minimal beauty mould already set by Christian Dior, Dries Van Noten and Celine at the Paris shows. Apart from one important detail, that is. Look a little closer at the hands of the Balenciaga girls and you’ll spot the graphic, reflected “B” logo of the house stamped discreetly onto their thumbs in bold black. All the better for carrying one of the brand’s new hand-held leather bags, no?
New York-based nail artist Mei Kawajiri was the brains behind the look, having also created the ultra-long scarlet talons at the spring/summer 2017 show last October. Hand-painting the logo directly onto the nail, Kawajiri finished with a clear Kure Bazaar polish for a simple yet covetable mani that we’d all better start practising now in order to perfect in time for autumn. “Nails are always fun with fashion,” was the conclusion on Instagram after the show.
