Fans of X Factor's Jahmene Douglas urge him to seek help after he posts tweet about suicidal thoughts

Former X Factor contestant Jahmene Douglas took to Twitter to post a heartbreaking message about his suicidal thoughts and thousands of fans as well as celebrity friends rushed to pledge their support for the singer.

The 25-year-old opened up about his "inner battle" with depression in a note attached to a tweet and captioned "This is me..."

"I feel so broken, lost and worthless," he wrote on Thursday. "It doesn’t seem to matter how much I try to fix myself, who I talk to or what I put in place. It always comes back to this."

An overwhelming amount of tweets from friends and fans soon flooded onto his timeline - all expressing their love and support for Jahmene, and urging him to stay strong.

James Arthur, who was a contestant on X Factor with Jahmene in 2012, was among the first to reach out to his friend.

Responding directly to the tweet, the 29-year-old star said: "@Jahmene Brother I'm here for you. Answer your phone. I know what you're going through. Pick up.
