WHILE the controversy around the alleged mistreatment of models loomed large over Paris Fashion Week proceedings this week, the shows went on. Notes of point included Clare Waight Keller's emotional swansong for Chloé; Anthony Vaccarello and Maria Grazia Chiuri's second ready-to-wear outings for Saint Laurent and Dior respectively; and Dries Van Noten's 100th show, which saw the designer enlist a bevy of beautiful older models.
But, just because the fashion industry's attention was fixed on the City of Light did not mean to say that the pause was pressed on important announcements. On Tuesday, Natalie Massenet confirmed her much-talked-about next move when she announced she would be joining Farfetch (an online rival to Net-a-Porter which she founded in 2000 and departed in 2016) as non-executive co-chairman; Philip Green announced that he is to meet the shortfall in the BHS pension scheme to the tune of £363 million; Agent Provocateur was bought by Four Holdings, a firm part-owned by Sports Direct founder Mike Ashley; New York-based brand BCBG Max Azria filed for bankruptcy protection; Brioni parted ways with its CEO, Gianluca Flore, four months after the departure of the brand's creative director - and high-profile hire - Justin O'Shea; Calvin Klein enlisted Brit favourite Luella Bartley to join Raf Simons as head of global design at Calvin Klein Jeans; and Vogue Arabia unveiled its first-ever print issue, fronted by Gigi Hadid.

In celebrity news this week there was cause for celebration as Natalie Portman and her husband Benjamin Millepied announced the birth of their daughter, Amalia. Oscar nominated for her role in Jackie, Portman skipped last weekend's ceremony as she had - unbeknown to the world - already given birth to her second child. “Mother and baby are happy and healthy," her representative told People.
Also on a happy note, former Gossip Girl star Penn Badgley married his girlfriend, Domino Kirke, in an intimate ceremony in New York; and Victoria and David Beckham lead the well-wishes for their son, Brooklyn, who turns 18 today.
