What's This? The Matrix... rebooted? No thanks.
Even on the day that saw the (slow) release of Trump's tax returns, reports of a reboot of The Matrix didn't slip under the radar. Far from it.
After all, who in their right mind would consider remaking one of the most iconic films of the last 20 years? It isn't that old, for one.
People around the world are using Twitter to vent their mutual frustration over the pure injustice of it all. And man, are they pissed.
Warner Bros. is reportedly in the early stages of development of the 1999 science fiction classic's reboot. Michael B. Jordan of Friday Night Lights is reportedly being considered for the lead role, with Zak Penn in talks to write, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Notably not involved (so far anyway) are The Wachowskis, who wrote and directed The Matrix series. Neither is Keanu Reeves, who recently said he'd only consider returning if the Wachowskis did.
What on God's green earth would they do this to us? Well, there's the money: The three films collected US$1.6 billion worldwide.
And while it's far from clear what the refreshed The Matrix project will look like, everybody seems to agree: This is a terrible, terrible idea.
