Last year Playboy‘s 2015 Playmate of the Year Dani Mathers posted a photo to Snapchat invading a woman’s privacy while she changed in a gym locker room, and body-shaming her. Mather received a huge backlash for her cruel post.
And, it’s happened again.
Diana Andrews, an Instagram-famous body builder from London, recently shared a photo of a woman working out at the gym to her Instagram Story. The image, taken from behind, shows a woman running on the treadmill with the text “love handles” emblazoned below her hips.
She didn’t let it go at that though. The next slide of the story contained the words “I bet she’s ordering burgers for delivery,” with several burger emoji.
The model and body builder has since deleted her social accounts. (Photo: Instagram)More
Not surprisingly, people were having none of her rude comments. The Huffington Post reports her post was shared on a women’s Facebook support group with the caption: “This is why most people hate going to the gym to try and better themselves.”
Andrew’s later apologized on Snapchat, writing, “I realise I was wrong to make this silly joke. It wasn’t my intention to body shame, hurt or disrespect anyone.”
She also apologized on her Facebook page, which now appears to have been set to private along with Andrew’s Instagram.
“I saw this girl walking on the treadmill talking on her phone and I made a video and added a comment that she’s probably ordering take away.”
“The whole point of this video was that she’s using her phone while on the treadmill. The whole story was turned upside down by taking a screenshot and adding comments that I’m body shaming this woman. I would never do this, it’s not who I am.”
Whether it was her intention to shame her fellow gym-goer or not, her cruel post highlights that body shaming is still running rampant in society.
